John Partridge
President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Partridge brings over twenty years of experience in the software industry as a developer, investor, and entrepreneur. He joins Tokutek from StreamBase Systems which John co-founded with database pioneer Dr. Michael Stonebraker. He started his career as a software developer at Microsoft Corporation where he co-authored Excel v1.0. He later worked as a venture capitalist at Accel Partners and the Summit Accelerator Fund where he specialized in investing in early stage internet infrastructure and enterprise software companies. John holds an A.B. in Applied Mathematics / Computer Science from Harvard University and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Michael A. Bender
Co-founder & Chief Scientist
Prof. Bender is an expert in algorithmics and scheduling. He won an R&D100 award for the Compute Processor Allocator, a job scheduler for massive supercomputers, which has been licensed to Cray and is used in many of the largest supercomputers in the world. Prof. Bender is also an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Stony Brook University.
Martín Farach-Colton
Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer
Prof. Farach-Colton is an expert in algorithmics and information retrieval. He was an early employee at Google, where he worked on improving performance of the Web Crawl and where he developed the prototype for the AdSense system. Prof. Farach-Colton is also a Professor of Computer Science at Rutgers University.
Bradley C. Kuszmaul
Co-founder & Chief Architect
Dr. Kuszmaul’s research focuses on developing computer systems and hardware that behave well both in practice and in theory. His entry won 5 out of 6 categories in Jim Gray’s 2007 sorting benchmark contest, sorting a terabyte in 197 seconds. He formerly architected Akamai’s distributed data collection system, was a Yale Professor of Computer Science and was a principal network architect for the Thinking Machines CM-5 Supercomputer. Dr. Kuszmaul is also a Research Scientist in the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).
Lawrence S. Schwartz
Vice President of Marketing
Mr. Schwartz has over 15 years of experience in data and information systems as an engineer, marketer, and P&L manager. He has been a featured speaker at the Percona MySQL Conference, Storage Networking World, Data Center World, and the Flash Memory Summit, has done broadcast interviews with O’Reilly and Silicon Angle, and has been quoted in DBTA, CTO Edge, Wired, Xconomy, and MIT’s Tech Review. He joins Tokutek from E Ink, where he oversaw marketing and product management and led an international integration with PVI, who acquired E Ink in 2009. Before E Ink, he spent 5 years at EMC leading Symmetrix marketing, including the rollout of enterprise SSD systems. He currently serves on the Steering Committee for Big Data for the MassTLC and is Chair of the Multi-Tenancy Committee for the Cloud Council of Seven. Lawrence is the author of several patents, and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Craig Clark
Vice President of Sales
Craig Clark has 15 years of experience growing technology businesses. He joins Tokutek from Proactis, where he developed a new revenue stream for the company by closing substantial deals in the manufacturing, finance, legal and government verticals. This was accomplished while the firm was also in the midst of a transition to a SaaS offering. Prior to Proactis, he built the North American sales team for database security startup, Sentrigo (eventually acquired by McAfee), creating a customer base of several hundred global organizations. He also successfully developed a sales team for Basware and led strategic accounts at Engima. Craig holds a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross.
Tim Callaghan
Vice President of Engineering
Mr. Callaghan brings 20 years experience building and administering database applications for commercial and internal usage. At VoltDB, he led the field engineering efforts, was the point contact for all commercial and community customers, and served as Product Manager. Before that, he was the Chief System Architect at CrunchTime Information Systems, building their SaaS restaurant solutions and distributed database offerings for the cruise industry. He also spent 8 years at Investors Bank & Trust (a Boston-based financial services company) as the Director of Database Technologies, creating their tax accounting solution for complex fund structures and leading all database development initiatives. Tim has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
